Diversity in School

"A person's a person no matter how small" - Dr. Seuss

Have you ever met a person who is truly the same as you? You may have things in common or look similar but you still have things that make you unique. As a teacher my classroom will embrace what makes each of us who we are. Did you know people learn differently. Some people are visual learners so they understand by watching people perform the action or by watching the teacher put it on the board. Others may learn by actually being hands on when it comes to the activity. In this classroom each subject and assignment will be set up for each student's learning ability. In the assignments the students will first watch me demonstrate the assignment, they will then listen to the instructions. Then lastly we will work together to finish it. This will truly reach every student so they will understand what they are doing. I also want to embrace who the students are. Lets see what truly makes them unique. Every Friday I would like the students to bring an item, that follows the schools rules, that represents something in their life or something they are into at the moment. This is a great way for students to bond with each other but also embrace who they are. Growing up can be hard in todays society and I want the students to know that they are loved and being different is cool. It would truly be boring if we were all the same.
